General Information

At the Richmond Olympic Oval: PLAY Participants (Student Athletes) will participate on May 13-15th and the schedules will be coordinated with schools. ACHIEVE athletes will compete on May 15-17th with exact scheduling being determined with each sport.

Any school-age child or teen, k-12 with a disability can participate in the games—whether through their school as part of the PLAY Stream or through their sports club as part of the ACHIEVE Stream.

The PLAY stream is focused on school-age participants (grades K-12), with supportive programming being offered in schools and communities to develop the skills and confidence to play at the OneAbility Games.

The ACHIEVE stream features competitive sport events, highlighting regional, provincial, and national parasport competitions. These high-performance events are being held in collaboration with provincial and national sport organizations, offering athletes the chance to compete.

Yes. We have planned for accessibility supports such as a change room with a changing table, portable lifts, and sensory/ quiet spaces. Participants with high support needs will need to bring a support person(s) with them.
Student & Athlete Registration

PLAY Stream participants will register through their schools, and there will be a small registration fee per school.
ACHIEVE Stream participants will register through their sport organization, and there will be a registration fee that is aligned with typical tournament costs.

School registration will open in January 2026 and students will be registered by school.

Athletes qualify through their sport organization and they will be invited to register.

No. We will work with schools to plan out your attendance and align the needs of the students with our sport competition days.
Other Ways to Get Involved

Students without disabilities can inquire at school about ways to support coaching, making cheer posters, and more. They can also volunteer directly with us by signing up here. Above all, they can attend the Games to cheer for their fellow classmates!

Transportation & Venue Accessibility

We will work with the schools attending the OneAbility Games on a transportation plan.

The Oval has a large underground parking lot that includes 12 marked accessible stalls, ensuring convenient parking for individuals with disabilities.

The easiest way to reach the Richmond Olympic Oval using public transportation is via the Canada Line SkyTrain. The nearest station is Capstan Station, which is about a 30 minute walk from the Oval. You can also take bus route 407 (Gilbert/Bridgeport) or bus route 414 (Richmond Oval/Richmond-Brighouse Station) from Capstan Station and get off at the Hollybridge Way Stop, which is about a 3 minute walk from the Richmond Olympic Oval.

All three major entrances are equipped with automatic double sliding glass doors, ensuring easy access for individuals with mobility challenges.

Multiple elevators are available, providing access to all levels of the facility, including the fitness centre and activity floors.

All washrooms and change rooms have an accessible stall, including a separate unisex accessible washroom located on the activity floor.
