IMPACT

The OneAbility Games is more than a moment—it’s a movement.

The Games are a catalyst for systemic change in how we view inclusion, accessibility, and the role of sport in education. By engaging students of all abilities in meaningful physical activity and leadership opportunities, we’re building healthier communities, more inclusive schools, and stronger futures—for everyone. We’re helping shape a future where every student feels seen, valued, and empowered to thrive.

7 Strategic Pillars

1. Social Connection & Inclusion

Students with disabilities often face social isolation in traditional school settings. OneAbility Games School Program and resources aim to foster friendships and peer interactions despite abilities—promoting belonging, confidence, and connection. The event aims to become a celebration where differences are embraced and shared experiences are valued.

2. Health & Well-being for Students with Disabilities

Physical activity is essential for physical and mental health—yet it’s often inaccessible to students with disabilities. Our inclusive approach provides safe, fun, and consistent opportunities to engage in sport, improving overall health, reducing stress, and promoting emotional resilience. Participation also encourages more active lifestyles beyond the Games.

3. Student Leadership Development

Our programs create structured opportunities for non-disabled students to become peer leaders, event volunteers, advocates for inclusion, and ultimately, allies. Through hands-on involvement in adapted sport environments, they develop empathy, teamwork, and a sense of purpose that translates beyond the classroom. These experiences build leadership skills and prepare students for community engagement and future careers.

4. Improved Educational Engagement & Outcomes

When students feel included and valued, they’re more likely to attend school regularly, participate actively, and succeed academically. The OneAbility Games inspires pride and purpose, giving students—especially those with disabilities—something to look forward to and work toward. This impact extends to broader school culture, improving attitudes and awareness among staff and students.

5. Raising Accessibility Awareness in Schools & Sport

By embedding adapted sport into mainstream school curriculum, we increase awareness and understanding of accessibility. Students, teachers, and administrators gain insight into the barriers faced by disabled youth—and are empowered to be part of the solution. Schools become more intentional about creating inclusive environments across programs and infrastructure.

6. Sport Pathways & Aspirational Role Models

Through the PLAY and ACHIEVE format, students see a clear progression from participation to competition. Younger athletes engage in the PLAY stream while watching elite-level athletes compete in the ACHIEVE stream—creating aspiration, motivation, and a vision for what’s possible. This visibility helps build long-term pathways in adaptive sport from elementary to Paralympic levels.

7. Opportunities to Play Alongside Peers

The OneAbility Games breaks down barriers between students with and without disabilities by facilitating inclusive, side-by-side participation. This model promotes understanding, removes stigma, and reflects the real world—where collaboration and inclusion are key to thriving communities.
