Inspiration & Allies

The OneAbility Games draws inspiration from two pioneering models of inclusive sport: Défi sportif AlterGo and Operation Trackshoes.

Défi Sportif Altergo Logo

For over 42 years, Défi sportif AlterGo has led the way in Québec and beyond, uniting more than 6,000 athletes annually in Canada’s largest multi-sport event for individuals with disabilities. Their commitment to elite competition, youth development, and systemic collaboration has made them a global leader in adapted sport.

Operation Trackshoes Logo

Closer to home, Operation Trackshoes has built a 50-year legacy in British Columbia, creating a fully volunteer-driven, integrated sports festival that celebrates people of all abilities through participation, awareness, and respect. The OneAbility Games proudly continues this legacy—blending excellence and inclusion to create a new generation of opportunity, empowerment, and community through sport.

The OneAbility Games is developing an Educator Champion Network—a team of passionate educators committed to bringing adapted sport into schools and creating more inclusive physical education experiences.

Leading the way are our four outstanding Educator Champions: Deb Murin, Archie Allison, Jina Taylor, Chris Wright, and Dwayne Roberts, who are currently piloting our school-based programming and co-creating practical, ready-to-use resources for teachers. Their leadership is helping shape a more accessible future for students of all abilities.

As a volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in supporting athletes of all abilities, helping to create a welcoming, barrier-free environment that celebrates participation and achievement. Whether you're directing athletes, score-keeping, or cheering from the sidelines, your contribution helps build a more inclusive world—one connection, one game, and one smile at a time. It's more than volunteering; it’s being part of social change to a more inclusive world.
