The AccessAbility in Action Workshop is a chance to learn about accessibility and inclusion while experiencing it come to life. Alongside a dynamic learning session and panel conversation, participants will take in the energy of the OneAbility Games, cheering on Opening Ceremonies and witnessing the excitement of Wheelchair Basketball. It’s an opportunity to connect learning with real moments of inclusion in action.

Professional Development Session:
Join us for a presentation delivered by the Rick Hansen Foundation’s ambassador, Jenna Reed-Côté. Participants will learn about the importance of accessibility, disability inclusion, and supportive language and approaches for engaging with people with disabilities.
Expert Panel Discussion:
An engaging expert panel featuring Paralympic athletes alongside Stephanie Cadieux, Canada’s Chief Accessibility Officer, as they explore the future of accessibility through the lens of lived experience, leadership, and high-performance sport. From elite competition to the vital role of grassroots initiatives like the OneAbility Games, this conversation will highlight how early access to inclusive sport can shape confidence, opportunity, and lifelong participation for children with disabilities. Hear powerful stories, gain valuable insights, and be part of the dialogue driving a more accessible and inclusive Canada.
Participate in the Energy of the OneAbility Games:
Be part of the excitement from the very start; cheer on more than 300 students with disabilities during the opening ceremonies, then hit the court and try wheelchair basketball for yourself. Stay to watch Team Ontario take on Team BC in an exciting women’s wheelchair basketball kick-off game, and experience the intensity of a Wheelchair Basketball National Championships matchup live.
